CasH web conference

On Monday, February 8, 2021, the web conference CASCADE HYDROPONICS was successfully completed as part of the research project “CasH”.

Based on the number of participants and interest showed, it is clear that theme of the conference is interesting to a significant number of researchers, business executives and the academic community.During the opening ceremony, the host of the web conference, Professor Nikolaos Katsoulas, welcomed everyone, and introduced the project partners and the members of his research team that are based at the University of Thessaly in Volos. You can watch the web conference on the channel of the Agricultural Construction Laboratory and Environmental Control at the following Link:https://youtu.be/AxlH3eBGY7k

First CasH publication

We are glad to announce our first publication in the framework of the  CASCADE HYDROPONICS at the MDPI. The title of the article is: Implementation of the Circular Economy Concept in Greenhouse Hydroponics for Ultimate Use of Water and Nutrients by Angeliki Elvanidi , Cinthya Marilu Benitez Reascos , Elissavet Gourzoulidou, Alexander Kunze , Johannes F.J. Max and Nikolaos Katsoulas.

INVITATION: WEB CONFERENCE 8 FEBRUARY 2021

Join the first online Web Conference of the Cascade Hydroponics-CasH project, which has been co-financed by the European Union and Greek national funds through the National Action “Bilateral and Multilateral E&T Cooperation Greece-Germany” (project code: T2DGΕ-0893).

The Web Conference aims to present the research results obtained so far by all the stakeholders of the project to the scientific community and the general public.

The project partnership includes organizations and educational institutes from both Greece (University of Thessaly, Agrostis) and Germany (Hochschule Geisenheim University, Phytowelt)

Greenhouse Open Day

The Open Day at the Greenhouse Facilities of University of Thessaly, Velestino Magnesia was successfully held on 18 September 2019. The doors opened on time at 10:00 am with the presence of first registered visitors.

Professor Nikos Katsoulas and Director of the Laboratory of Agricultural Constructions of the Department of Crop Production and Rural Environment guided visitors to the Greenhouse Facilities, including a presentation of the new pilot greenhouse of the University of Thessaly, where most of the projects are implemented. During the visit were presented several opportunities for farm diversification in the circular bioeconomy.

The purpose of the event was to inform the public about the contribution of EU cohesion policy to the implementation of projects and development interventions in general under Operational Programs co-financed by the European Structural Funds.

The main objectives of the event were: to explain the new framework of the circular economy, to share good practices and to encourage networking and dialogue.

In the framework of the Research projects, implemented by the Laboratory of Agricultural Constructions and Environmental Control of the University of Thessaly, an OPEN DAY for the public is organized. The event will take place at the Laboratory’s Greenhouse Facilities of the University of Thessaly in Velestino on September 18, 2019 from 10:00 to 15:00.

The purpose of the event is to inform the public about the contribution of EU cohesion policy to the implementation of projects and development interventions in general under Operational Programs co-financed by the European Structural Funds.

Participants will also have the chance to visit the innovative Greenhouse, including a presentation of the new pilot greenhouse of the Laboratory of Agricultural Constructions and Environmental Control of the University of Thessaly, where most of the above mentioned projects are implemented.

The Open Access Day (OPEN DAY) event is part of the pan-European communication campaign “Europe in My Region 2019 – Europe in My Region 2019” (#EUinMyRegion).

Upcoming project meeting

Upcoming meeting for CasH at Hochschule Geisenheim University (HGU) on Sep 25, 2019. Sharing information and making decision meeting. Discussion of the progress of the current and the upcoming experiments. 

The Lab of Agricultural Constructions and Environmental Control of the University of Thessaly, in cooperation with the Hochschule Geisenheim University, the Greek SME Agrostis and the German SME Phytowelt will organize a meeting of the billateral Greece-Germany project entitled “Intercropping: an integrated approach to increase productivity and resource use efficiency and sustainability of protected horticulture (CasH).”
